Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble vitamin that is related to water-soluble thiamine (B1). It is believed that Benfotiamine can be more readily absorbed and utilized by its fat solubility.
Benfotiamine has very good safety statistics. So far, there have been no reports of any side effects or known adverse drug interactions with other medicines, but should be avoided during pregnancy.
Benfotiamine is naturally present in garlic, onion, leek and other members of the allium family of vegetables (onion plants).
